Rick Lee James Partnering With Lifeway Worship To Make New Record

hymnproject-CC

Dear Friends,

I have some incredible news to share with you about the record I’ll be recording this December in Nashville. I’ve only shared this news with investors and some family up to this point, but am now ready to share it with the rest of you.

A few weeks ago, I initiated a partnership with LifeWay Worship that will get me a long way down the road toward the accomplishment of a new album. Because of LifeWay Worship’s involvement, I will be able to record this album at one of the best studios in Nashville with A-list players and engineers. The investment of LifeWay Worship, alongside funds donated via  GoFundMe.com and my own personal investment, is making the dream become reality!

Here’s What This Means:

  • Funding to record and mix the album has been secured in full.
  • All songs recorded will be featured on my solo album and will be be repurposed by LifeWay Worship to introduce songs and arrangements at lifewayworship.com (charts, tracks, lyric files will be offered there).
  • All songs included on the project will be pitched to a variety of publishers, labels, and artists for placement in choral print and/or on any number of 3rd party album releases.

All this is to say, through God’s provision and generosity expressed through LifeWay Worship and an amazing team of partners at www.gofundme.com/hymns, we’re going to make an amazing record which has the potential be used as a music resource for churches internationally. I can hardly believe that God has blessed me with this opportunity 7 years after I accepted His invitation to make music for the church on a broader scale. 7 is the number in scripture that represents God so I see this as a tangible sign of His guiding hand.

These songs were birthed out of my local congregation’s times of worship at First Church of the Nazarene in Springfield Ohio. I am so blessed that we will be able to share our musical expressions of worship on a larger scale using ancient and modern hymns. I can’t thank my producer, Craig Adams, enough for investing so much of himself into this project. He and I share a common calling to equip churches for worship. Authentic worship is what we pray will be experienced by congregations worldwide as they sing these songs.

Additional funding is still needed in order to accomplish album design, photography, printing costs, manufacturing, and miscellaneous expenses. Any additional funds collected at GoFundMe.com/hymns will help us achieve completion of the entire project. Thank you to all of you who have already given to this project and to those of you who still plan on partnering with us. I give all praise to our Glorious God and I pray He will use these songs of worship to glorify Himself and to further His Kingdom here on earth.  Bless the Lord at all times!

In His Glad Service,
Rick Lee James

Podcast 82: Author Timothy Kurek – ‘Cross In The Closet’

Episode 82

LISTEN HERE:

Timothy Kurek, raised within the confines of a strict, conservative Christian denomination in the Bible Belt, Nashville, Tennessee, was taught the gospel of separation from a young age. But it wasn’t long before Timothy’s path and the outside world converged when a friend came out as a lesbian, and revealed she had been excommunicated by her family. Distraught and overcome with questions and doubts about his religious upbringing, Timothy decided the only way to empathize and understand her pain was to walk in the shoes of very people he had been taught to shun. He decided to come out as a gay man to everyone in his life, and to see for himself how the label of gay would impact his life. In the tradition of Black Like Me, The Cross in the Closet is a story about people, a story about faith, and about one man’s “abominable” quest to find Jesus in the margins. We talk about his book and his experiment this week on Voices In My Head.

Podcast #43: Roger O’Neel

Listen Here:

This year when Worship Leader Magazine published their best of 2012 issue, the Worship track at Cedarville University was on the list.  Behind much of the growth of Cedarville’s program is a humble, kind, and very talented man named Roger O’Neel. Dr. O’Neel serves as the Director of the worship program. He has served the local church for over 20 years, including full-time worship pastorates in Texas, California, and Oklahoma. Dr. O’Neel has published articles on church music and leadership, blogs on worshipblogger.com, and is active as a worship leader, conference presenter, and worship consultant.  Today we discuss the most important things that are missing from Modern Worship, we hear thoughts on worship from the next generation, and just have a great conversation in general.

Ben Debono is the co-creator and co-host of the Sci-Fi Christian Podcast.  Until recently he was an associate pastor at Epic Life church in Anoka Minnesota.  After a careful study of church history and much prayer,  Ben and his wife felt led to leave the protestant tradition and convert to the ancient faith of Catholicism.  We discuss his faith journey and some common misconceptions about the Catholic church on today’s two-part episode of Voices In My Head.

I also play a demo for you of a new song that is featured on my soon to be released Basement Psalms live concert album.

Voices In My Head Podcast #8: The Michael Card Interview

Michael Card

LISTEN HERE

On Episode #8 Rick welcomes Christian musician and author Michael Card. In a career that has spanned 30 years, Michael has recorded over 31 albums and authored or co-authored over 21 books, hosted a radio program, and written for a wide range of magazines. While he has penned such favorites as “El Shaddai”, “Love Crucified Arose”, and “Emmanuel,” He never imagined selling more than 4 million albums or writing over 19 #1 hits. The popularity of his work seemed a stark contrast to his goal in life, to simply and quietly teach the Bible. Michael is releasing a new book and companion CD on the Gospel of Mark.  We talk about it on today’s episode of “Voices In My Head”. You can find out more about Michael Card at www.MichaelCard.com and by visiting the Biblical Imagination with Michael Card Facebook page.
