I hope that this update finds you well. The advent season is upon us again and with it, as always, is much busyness. In addition to the normal Yuletide events this year, This year I add recording a new album to the schedule. This Thursday I will begin my drive to Nashville Tennessee and on Friday morning we will begin tracking the new album. I am so excited about this as I’m sure you are well aware. I have dreamed of an opportunity like this for so many years and God is finally open the door. I am so blessed to work with Lifeway Worship, Producer Craig Adams, A list musicians, and the top engineers in Nashville on this project.
I believe we have come up with a title that encapsulates this project. We think the title will be Hymns, Prayers, and Invitations. I am so blessed by so many of you given how did your resources to make this album the reality. Make God bless you in this holiday season and renew your faith in Christ. I covet your prayers as we begin this recording process and I ask you to pray for others will be renewed in their faith as a result of this endeavor. While we want to make great music, the goal is to reveal Jesus and the present reality of the kingdom of God.
I’ll do my best to update you on line through Facebook and Twitter (@RickLeeJames) while I am in Nashville with pictures and more as I am able. I feel very blessed today and I can’t wait to share the songs with you as a complete collection.
In honor of my favorite Saint, Patrick of Ireland, I wanted to share a song I wrote with my friend Eddie Kirkland. There are not a lot of modern worship songs that celebrate the life and legacy of St. Patrick and there are few other Christian holy days that have been so far removed from their original context. The legacy of Patrick is one of complete and utter Surrender unto Christ as is evidenced in the words of the prayer attributed to him, the Breastplate of St. Patrick. One of my favorite lines of this prayer captures my own heartbeat:
Christ in the heart of every man who thinks of me,
Christ in the mouth of everyone who speaks of me,
Christ in every eye that sees me,
Christ in every ear that hears me.
Because Patrick so wished that Christ be the focus of his life and so desired that when people thought of him that they would think of Jesus, we set out to write a song that would in some small way help to preserve his legacy. If you follow the link on this page you will find lead sheets and a demo of the song we wrote from the prayer of St. Patrick. I just recorded the demo last night in an effort to have something ready by St. Patrick’s Day. It’s not ready for radio but will show your bands how the song goes. It’s free of charge to anyone who would like to use it. We hope that you will find this song helpful in your Sunday worship services. May God bless you and keep you.
I was really blessed to have a conversation with Eddie Kirkland for this week’s Podcast. Eddie is a talented songwriter and worship leader who has a great story to tell. He is featured in featured the current issue of Worship Leader Magazine for his amazing new album titled, “Kings and Queens”. It’s one of the best Christian albums I’ve heard in a very long time, and that’s saying a lot considering that I’ve just heard friend of the show, Andrew Peterson‘s new album. I found Eddie Kirkland not only to be one of the most talented songwriters and singers on the scene today, but he is also a genuinely kind and engaging person who after only a few minutes together makes you feel like you’ve known him for years. It’s my honor to feature Eddie on today’s episode of Voices In My Head Podcast.
Also, this week only, you can get a free download of the Voices IN My Head Podcast theme song, “If You Hear His Voice Today”from my friends over at itickets.com and Christianhappenings.com. Plus, on today’s show I will tell you about my experience last week recording my first every LIVE album, Basement Psalms. Basement Psalms will be released in the near future as a CD and DVD and I can’t wait to share the details with you on today’s episode.
