Tracking For The New Record Begins This Week

Good Day,
I hope that this update finds you well. The advent season is upon us again and with it, as always, is much busyness. In addition to the normal Yuletide events this year, This year I add recording a new album to the schedule. This Thursday I will begin my drive to Nashville Tennessee and on Friday morning we will begin tracking the new album. I am so excited about this as I’m sure you are well aware. I have dreamed of an opportunity like this for so many years and God is finally open the door. I am so blessed to work with Lifeway Worship, Producer Craig Adams, A list musicians, and the top engineers in Nashville on this project.

I believe we have come up with a title that encapsulates this project. We think the title will be Hymns, Prayers, and Invitations. I am so blessed by so many of you given how did your resources to make this album the reality. Make God bless you in this holiday season and renew your faith in Christ. I covet your prayers as we begin this recording process and I ask you to pray for others will be renewed in their faith as a result of this endeavor. While we want to make great music, the goal is to reveal Jesus and the present reality of the kingdom of God.

I’ll do my best to update you on line through Facebook and Twitter (@RickLeeJames) while I am in Nashville with pictures and more as I am able. I feel very blessed today and I can’t wait to share the songs with you as a complete collection.

Blessings,
Rick Lee James

For Our Veterans, More Than Thank You – Peace To You

On Veterans Day, it’s important to face the full price paid by veterans for their national service. Veterans today commit suicide at the highest rate in our nation’s history, have startling rates of prescription drug and alcohol abuse, and are often thought of as “damaged goods.” For our Veteran’s and their loved ones, I pray that we can be ears that listen and hands that heal in Jesus’ name. I don’t just want to thank you today, I want to say to you as a minister of Christ, that our arms and ears are open to you. May you never be alone in the struggles that you face. I guess what I want to say to our Veterans is, May the Peace of Christ be with you.

To my veteran brothers who have made Christ known to me on so many occasions I want you to know I love you. Not to leave anyone out but Rich Young, Steve Earley, and Larry Taylor specifically come to my mind this morning. You have all been instrumental in my discipleship and I am thankful for you. Peace of Christ to you.

Here are some words from Stanley Hauerwas… Peace of Christ to you.

Hearing > Healing

I would say that at least 90% of the prayer requests I hear from church people have to do with sickness and health. The really interesting thing about that is Jesus very rarely healed people. When Jesus did heal people it was a sign of something else, an illustration to a point that he was trying to make. Healings were living parables pointing to God, not the ancient equivalent of the latest wonder drug.

No, Jesus never promised us health. In fact he promised us just the opposite of health. What Jesus offered to his disciples was a cross, a Roman instrument of torture and death. If Jesus had our health as his primary goal then I’m sure he would’ve done a lot more healing, but as it has always been, there’s 100% chance of death for each one of us.

The Gospels never call the miracles of Jesus miracles, they call them signs. To what signs do you think Jesus was pointing us? He certainly wasn’t pointing us to the miracles themselves, as Jesus wanted disciples, not spectators at a magic show. With that being said, if our health was not Jesus main priority, then why does that seem to be all we ever pray about? What do you think Jesus would have us pray about? What are the signs to which his miracles are pointing? The answer is not far from you so think about it, better yet, pray about it.

Blessings,
